Christmas Art – Notan (Japanese paper design)

I’m always keen to find Christmas art activities that are inclusive for kids who don’t celebrate Christmas. I was vindicated by this activity when I was asked by a school to do ‘Christmas art’, and when I explained this activity to the class, and the variation for those who don’t celebrate Christmas, I heard one little proclamation of “YESSSSSSSS! I always get left out of this stuff!”

This was an adaptation that I made to a lesson on Notan, so you could similarly adapt it so it isn’t Christmas-focused. I’ve done Notan with Stage 2 and Stage 3 – any younger and the students may not be able to complete the activity, as the mirroring effect can be a bit confusing.
